Myth

A stranger tells you that the ATM is not working properly. He offers to assist you to complete your transaction. He is a very helpful person.

Fact

He may be helpful. but it is possible that he is only pretending to help. Criminals may try to distract you when you are using the ATM. They may try to copy the details on your card. They may also watch as you enter your PIN. They can then replicate your card and perform fraudulent transactions.

Tips

Do no accept offers of help from strangers when you are performing transactions. Cover the PIN pad with your hand and make sure that no-one is looking over your shoulder.
