Given the heavy emphasis on academic studies, students in Hong Kong schools have little time to take part in sports activities either during or after school. A new School Sports Programme - under the auspices of the Government - aims to increase levels of fitness by boosting student participation, particularly in various team sports.

To help achieve this, the Foundation funds a programme to provide teachers with an opportunity to become qualified and accredited coaches. To date more than 700 teachers from some 600 schools in Hong Kong have received accreditation for coaching sports such as badminton, basketball, table tennis and volleyball.
