Sustainability rankings

• HSBC tops environmental, social & governance rating in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index. The rating places HSBC in the top rank out of 638 Hong Kong and China listed companies in the environmental, social and governance performance review undertaken by RepuTex. More
• Selected as a constituent stock of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index. More
• Carbon Disclosure Project listed HSBC among the top three financial institutions globally for climate change strategy and reporting.
• Dow Jones Sustainability Index (Member since 2001)
• FTSE4Good Index Series (Member since 2001)

Community Investment

• Won two volunteer awards from the Social Welfare Department in Hong Kong - Champion of Highest Service Hour Award 2010 (Private Organisations - Category 1) and Second Runner-up of Highest Service Hour Award 2010 (Private Organisation - Best Customer Participation). The awards recognise the Bank's efforts in mobilising its employees, customers and the public to contribute over 83,000 hours in community service in 2010.
• HSBC won the Top Corporate Award of the Hong Kong Volunteer Award organised by Agency for Volunteer Service in recognition of the outstanding achievements of HSBC volunteers and the Bank's promotion on volunteering through policy, resources input and recognition schemes.
• HSBC Hong Kong was awarded the Best in Class Corporate Citizen in two consecutive years for the years 2010 and 2011 by the Benchmark magazine in the Benchmark Wealth Management Awards.
• The Hongkong Bank Foundation-funded 'Loving Bridge' social inclusion programme has won the 2011 Best Practice Award in Social Welfare organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
• Top Donor of the Community Chest of Hong Kong for 11 years since 2000, also Top Donor Award for the Community Chest Dress Special Day for 18 consecutive years.
• Best Practice Awards 2011 in CSR in recognition of the outstanding philanthropic contributions by the Hongkong Bank Foundation.

Footprint management

• HSBC Insurance was awarded as Green Company of the Year by Asia Insurance Review for developing a corporate culture committed to long-term environmental sustainability and to achieving eco-friendly operations through the reduction of environmental impacts via the use of an environmental management system.
• Won U Green Award in the banking category organised by the Hong Kong Economic Time's U Magazine.

People & Diversity

• Won Distinguished Family-Friendly Employer and Award for Innovation in the first territory-wide Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme organised by the Family Council of the HKSAR Government.
• 18 Districts Caring Employers 2010 Award in recognition of HSBC Main Treasury for hiring trainees with intellectual disabilities from Hong Chi Association and promoting an inclusive and harmonious society for all. The award was jointly organised by Labour and Welfare Bureau, Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and the Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities.
• Bronze Award in the 2010/11 Occupational Health Promotional Campaign co-organised by the Hong Kong OSH Council and Labour Department.

Sustainable business

• 2011 Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards - Best Environmental Initiatives in recognition of the bank's outstanding achievements in tackling the climate change for a sustainable business.
• Awarded Asia Pacific Outstanding Environmental Organisation and Outstanding Green Finance Service by Wen Wei Po's Green China Awards. The awards recognised the Bank's environmental performance, innovation, pioneering approach to facilitate the shift towards a low-carbon economy and adoption of low-carbon living style in Asia, as well as comprehensive green financing products and services for its customers in Hong Kong.
• HSBC Hong Kong was presented the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for two consecutive years co-organised by the Capital Weekly and Capital Monthly Magazines. The Bank was recognised for its long-term commitment in community investments and distinguished achievements in delivering innovative sustainable business practices in Hong Kong.
• Eco-Business award in East Week's 2011 Hong Kong Service Awards.
