Waste management

From reducing disposable cups and bags to recycling kitchen waste, cardboard boxes and cooking oil, HSBC is doing everything it can to reduce the amount of waste it produces.

To reduce waste to landfill, GoMixer and Bio-Tec, organic waste disposal system, have been used for converting organic waste generated from Bank premises and one of the Bank residential compound to water or fertilizer. Maximum 350kg of organic waste can be reduced a day.

  • Donate unconsumed food to the needy through organisations such as St Barnabas' Society and Home.
  • Collect carton boxes for reuse/recycling to reduce cardboard packaging waste.
  • Work with suppliers to collect waste cooking oil and transform it into green lubricant.
