On 15 March 2009, 3,000 people hit the pedal in HSBC Pok Oi Cycle for Millions. HSBC not only partners with Pok Oi to organise the charity ride, which was the first of its kind in Hong Kong, Chief Executive Officer Sandy Flockhart also led an HSBC team of 300 employees to participate in the event. Among HSBC colleagues are the Bank's pro-cycling team which was set up last year. Joining them were riders from corporates as well as social welfare agencies, students and members of the public. Participants started at Tai Po Waterfront Park and rode along the Tolo Harbour Cycle Track to Shatin Park, with a total distance of 10km. While pedaling for a green community, the participating corporate teams and individuals also raised HKD3 million to support Pok Oi's diversified range of education, medical and social services. HSBC also clinches Team Spirit Award, Road Safety Award and 2nd runner-up of Best Fundraising Team (Corporate category).
