Community giving

Since December 2003, HSBC has donated surplus food from the Bank's canteens to the needy and underprivileged in Hong Kong. Between April 2009 to March 2010 the Bank donated about 2,377 kg of food (equivalent to over 5,989 meals) to St Barnabas' Society and Home for street sleepers.

HSBC also supports the Red Cross and donates excess office equipment, furniture, food, clothes, books and Chinese new year gifts to the following local charities:

• Caritas and the Salvation Army
• Hong Kong Family Welfare Society
• Hong Chi Pinehill Advanced Training Centre
• St Barnabas' Society & Home
• St James' Settlement
