A series of orientation activities designed to familiarise you with the new environment and prepare you for your first projects and attachments.
Core Placements
In order to provide a comprehensive knowledge of our Technology and Services function, the programme offers placements across the breadth of our core technology and banking operational areas.
During these placements Technology and Services Specialists will not only gain relevant subject-matter expertise, but also expand their customer relationship management capabilities, leadership skills, and project management abilities. After the on-the-job training they will be equipped with an improved understanding of the nature of our regional functional matrix management structures.
Individual placement pattern and durations will vary depending on business needs and team/management availability.
Service Delivery
Service Delivery delivers world-class services for our customers across Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Global Banking and Markets, Commercial Banking, and Private Banking. Operating through a global network of Centres of Excellence and leveraging domain expertise globally, Service Delivery drives the implementation of standardised practices to improve efficiency and quality of service.
IT Operations
IT Operations oversees our business' IT infrastructure and related services, including hardware/software platforms, communication systems, service operations, and data centres, each a fundamental component of Group daily business operations. The team also provides management and consultancy services to effectively and efficiently deliver large-scale infrastructure projects.
Software Delivery
Software Delivery is responsible for aligning regional software development and supporting practices that deliver business strategies. With its talent and expertise across the Asia-Pacific region, the team engineers flexible banking solutions and services while delivering fully integrated, highly efficient, innovative solutions that enable our business to remain at the leading edge in the development and delivery of high-quality banking systems.
Change Delivery
Change Delivery works with global, regional and local teams with a focus on change management and the improvement of process re-engineering capabilities and automation to ensure professional delivery and full realisation of commercial benefits.
Other specialised functions
One or two attachments within specialised areas of the division, offering the opportunity to expand your knowledge of our full range of operations and services. Placements will be available in areas such as:

Business/Control Functions Attachment
An opportunity to experience the HSBC business environment outside of Technology and Services, either among our customer group or Control Function divisions. This attachment aims to establish a fundamental understanding of how teams outside of Technology and Services operate, and of how our business can add value in those areas.
Overseas Attachments
Placements with core business areas around the Asia-Pacific region that offer regional exposure from a local perspective and opportunities to transfer skills and knowledge acquired in Hong Kong to other countries. Gain hands-on experience of how our regional Technology and Services functions operate and support our local businesses at the country level, along with the opportunity to continue to build a valuable network of business contacts around the Asia-Pacific region.

Enjoy the benefits of performance assessments from line management every six months, complemented by feedback sessions with an executive mentor and Human Resources coaches.
Mentoring and Support
HSBC offers comprehensive mentoring and ongoing support at every turn through our structured development schemes. Participants will be assigned a mentor to provide coaching and guidance throughout the programme, augmented by a line mentor in each attachment to facilitate technical learning.

Future
Over the course of the 36 months immediately following your completion of the programme, you will take on posts within the area of Technology and Services in which you took your Core Placement, paving the way to a long-term specialised career with HSBC.
