Induction
A series of orientation activities designed to familiarise you with the new environment and prepare you for your first projects and attachments.
Core Placements
The programme offers a range of cross-border and cross-functional placements throughout the Asia-Pacific region aimed at developing a pipeline of regionally mobile insurance talent. In particular, Insurance Specialists will be provided with focused yet comprehensive development in the areas of underwriting, claims, actuarial, business development, reinsurance, insurance risk and financial management.
Insurance Specialists will choose among three streams at the beginning of the programme - Actuarial, Risk Management and Finance Management. Each offers a different range of placement areas and exposures and should be chosen based on individual career aspirations.
Actuarial
A highly specialised team responsible for overseeing product approval and profitability management, our Actuarial team ensures all life products manufactured in the Asia-Pacific region are approved. They assess inherent risks to ensure manageability and that pricing is appropriate and meets minimum profitability targets. The team also provides oversight on an actuarial valuation basis and ensures set assumptions are sound for financial reporting purposes.
Insurance Specialists choosing an Actuarial focus will undertake three attachments in the areas of Product and Pricing, Financial Reporting and Valuation, and Economic Capital Management.
Attachment locations and durations may be subject to change depending on business and individual development needs.
Risk Management
With the importance of risk consideration at HSBC, our Risk Management team builds a risk-aware culture across our Insurance business and ensures compliance with Group Risk governance standards and the Insurance Functional Instruction Manual (IFIM). They provide support to sites in developing and cascading complex Group initiatives such as Risk Appetite, as well as coordinating ICAAP reporting with Risk. They also support sites in their Risk Control Assessments (RCA) and Top Risk Analysis (TRA), and manage emerging risk issues.
Insurance Specialists choosing a Risk Management focus will undertake three attachments in the areas of Actuarial, Market Risk Management, and Enterprise Risk Management.
Attachment locations and durations may be subject to change depending on business and individual development needs.
Finance Management
Staffed by a team of Insurance Specialists, our Finance Management team leads and supports our Insurance businesses across the Asia-Pacific region in reporting consistency, Insurance Functional Instruction Manual (IFIM) compliance, and producing consolidated regional management information.
Insurance Specialists choosing a Finance Management focus will undertake three attachments in areas chosen from Financial Operations, Financial Reporting, Accounting Policy, and Management Information, Planning and Analysis.
Attachment locations and durations may be subject to change depending on business and individual development needs.
